Windows 7 versus Windows Vista

The operating system that is designed to eliminate all the annoyances and bugs of the earlier versions of windows are Windows 7. Though the interface offered by Windows Vista is appealing, Microsoft decided to develop a newer version as many issues were encountered in vista associated with aspects like compatibility and performance. This led to some users requesting for newer version and others sticking back to their good old XP’s.

A user can experience the feel of windows environment through the taskbar present in the start menu. A thorough makeover has been imparted on the taskbar in contrast to the redesign made in windows vista. All the old icons that are small in size were replaced with larger ones thereby reducing the clutter of Taskbar. Another enhancement is elimination of the quick launch. It is folded into Taskbar instead. The windows 7 version of hovering the mouse pointer is slicker compared to that of Vista. It is also more efficient and hovering the pointer results in the thumbnails gliding into a position that is above the Taskbar.

The beta version of Windows 7 appears flawless. While some of the features remain unfinished, the potential of others cannot be determined unless lifting by major third party companies. The release of this operating system interestingly coincides with that of Apple’s Snow Leopard. Overall, Windows 7 is definitely a better operating system than the previous version of windows
