It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies as well as AT&T’s 850/1900 MHz 3G frequencies (UMTS/HSDPA).

Pros
====
* The phone is light. I like that I am not hauling a brick, but something so light. It is much lighter than my N95.
* The display is clear. But it is somewhat small. I actually found it easier to use than my N95, though. It’s as if I see more. I guess it’s because I mostly use this phone with the keyboard pulled out, and then I look at it from the side instead of traditional way. The display becomes more like a TV that way
* Full keyboard. Since the phone is quite small, the keyboard isn’t very big. While I am used to qwerty keyboards on computers, and I am fairly fast typer, I felt I had to relearn it on this phone. I am probably too used to the one handed action on normal phone keyboards, so I found myself staring at the keyboard a lot.
* Menus are easy to use. There are three buttons on the cover for internet, menus and messaging, which is quite nice. There is also a soft menu you can modify. That was one of the first things I did, I practically swapped out all items. I also changed the colour scheme, although the yellow one is not bad. In fact, I found most of the themes to be better than what I had for the N95.
* Offline mode is useful when flying. You can still listening to music while not searching for towers.
* Integration with email is pretty good. I am very happy with how I can connect to gmail and get my mail. I haven’t tried any other email servers, but I would believe they would be easy too.
* Configuration of the snooze. My first alarm clock had a snooze of 7 minutes. I found that to be just perfect. Not so long I could fall asleep again, but not so short I couldn’t enjoy the minutes before I HAD to get up. This phone has a default snooze at 15 minutes, but it can be changed to whatever you like. Mine is now set to 7 minutes :)
* Macro SD slot under the cover. You have to remove the cover to get the slot visible, but you can extend the memory with this slot. Sweet!
* XM Radio. It has 25 channels ready for you, but you have to subscribe. I quite like the feature, though.

Buy it for just $0.01 :

Problem With Samsung Omnia?

samsung-i900-omnia

Samsung announced of their mobile smart phone with complete up-to-date function, Samsung Omnia i900 is on June 2008. But there are some pros and cons about this pda phone or smart phone while we looks around for new phone. So, lets take a look.

Product Features

  • This unlocked cell phone is compatible with GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile. Not all carrier features may be supported. It will not work with CDMA carriers like Verizon Wireless, Alltel and Sprint.
  • Quad-band GSM cell phone compatible with 850/900/1800/1900 frequencies and International 3G compatibility via 2100 UMTS/HSDPA plus GPRS/EDGE capabilities
  • Touchscreen-enabled smartphone with 8 GB internal memory, 3.2-inch LCD, intuitive TouchWiz interface, and Windows Mobile 6.1
  • 5-megapixel camera/camcorder; Wi-Fi networking (802.11g/b); GPS for navigation and geo-tagging; Bluetooth stereo music
  • Up to 5.8 hours of talk time, up to 500 hours (20+ days) of standby time

Pros

1. Camera (with smiley option :) )
2. GPS
3. Radio (with save feature)
4. Touchscreen

Cons

1. The caller id shows who is calling, but why does it has to be so small when u have this neat big screen
2. I already lost my stylus, it shouldn’t be that hard to find a place to put it, the HTC already solved it.

———————————-

PROS:

* Slim design, executive look
* Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (great improvement)
* AGPS. 100% accurate when you choose My Location. Associated with
google maps is an A+. (Why pay for something that is already part of the
phone…That goes for you VERIZON!!!!).
* Opera Browser works great (sorry Internet Explorer)
* Touchscreen is very responsive (if you do not want screen to vibrate,
you can disable it in SETTINGS.
* Stylus, I do not use it. my fingers do the job excellent.
* Push E-Mail. I get all my emails from work, POP accounts, Gmail, (which
is already integrated in the phone), and of course windows live
messenger.
* Video player is very good, good resolution, great audio. (One thing
I dicovered today is that I can listen to Internet radio, WOW!!)
* My 5 Faves…NOT REALLY, but keep reading, (in this case 4 faves, yes, one of the widgets lets you add 4
people you call the most just like my five faves.) I am using my Omnia
with T-mobile and this came very handy.)
* Microsoft Office, YES! you have Excel, Word, Power Point. All 3 are
mobile version, you can read and edit any documents as you wish. you
also can read .pdf files, isn’t that something?? you will love this
phone.

CONS:

* I personaly, don’t have any negative comments on this phone, but I will
mention one that I know bothers some people out there, that is:

NO 3G Network compatibility in the USA. This phone was made exclusively
for Asia and Europe and their 3G works on a different band. But I tell
you one thing, Internet over EDGE is very good, so I really don’t care
at all about 3G speed. So keep this in mind….NO 3G in the USA.

———————————-

Pros

1) Light – barely feel it in your pocket
2) Internal memory – 8gb internal memory is a plus
3) Camera – 5 megapixel camera takes great pictures

Cons

1) Touchscreen – There is only vibration feedback when using the keyboard.

2) Slow – Throughout the day I have to run task manager and kill unwanted processes to keep my phone from dragging.

3) Stylus – THERE IS NO INTERNAL STORAGE FOR THE STYLUS!

4) Widgets – Terrible…. It’s easy to clutter your phone front screen with them and none of the widgets are truly functional except the calendar and Opera shortcuts. The alert widget is the worst.

5) Visual Voicemail – You have to pay $3 extra a month for this feature…. Ridiculous.

6) Internal Antenna placement – I have dropped more phone calls because of the placement of the antenna on the phone! The antenna is located on the bottom of the phone and not the top!

7) Web Browsing – Comes with Opera and IE. IE works for “mobile sites”. Opera tries to render actual web pages and does a poor job of it.

reading-kindle

Improvements with the Kindle 2
- Sleeker look and feel (it feels solid in your hands), sharper screen, no longer accidentally depressing the next page button by accident and having to find your place in the book again
- The 5-way button, though a bit small, allows you to select left and right, and not just up and down like the original version. This is very helpful when you want to select and highlight.
- There are now two layers of interaction…before when you were reading a paper, you could only go back to the previous screen to select the next article. Now, there is an option at the bottom of the screen to skip to the next article when you tire of the current one.
- Page loads are much faster. I can feel that the delay between pages is much less. Only issue is I need to recalibrate now–in general, I try to anticipate how much time it will take the next page to load, and when I’m two lines from the bottom, I would hit the next page button. Now I need to push the button later.
- Text to speech is cloogey, but fun. I’m not sure how useful this will end up being. I tried to have the voice read the user’s manual to me and it paused at commas and periods, but skipped right over hard returns. It also scrolled the page as it was reading, so if you are trying learn English and don’t mind developing a metallic accent, it could really help. :-) You can also choose, male/female and speed.
- Managing your books is much easier. It’s easy to see what is in your archive and re-download onto the Kindle. Also easy to delete and manage your books.
- Dictionary is improved. Now you can highlight a word and it automatically gives you a definition at the bottom of the screen.

Here are some major highlights:

- Screen: I know some people are really upset about the no backlight issue, but it will not as straining on your eyes as a computer screen. You can buy a booklight to clip to the cover for less than $10. If you read for 2 hours in the middle of the night and your husband never knew, and your eyes wouldn’t hurt.

- Large selection: Many classics can be purchased for $1 or less, if you can’t find it for free.

- Highlight/edit: You have also been able to highlight/annotate for book club. You will really enjoying this feature.

- Size/weight: It fits much better in your purse than other books.

Included in The Box

Kindle electronic reader, power adapter, and USB 2.0 cable (for connection to the Kindle power adapter or optionally to connect to a PC or Macintosh computer).

The History of Cell Phones

old-hand-phone

A lot of professionals today can’t leave their homes without their cell phones. The cell phone is no longer a luxury nowadays; it is already a necessity so that an individual can be reached at any time of the day or night. Do you know the history of cell phones?

The cell phone only came into existence in the late part of the seventies. Illinois Bell was the one who tested the first cell phone in Chicago, Illinois. The test was successful however, it was only in the mid eighties when service carriers started their operations. The frequency band used back then was 800-900 MHz. Several years ago, the cell phones were still bulky units. Radio signals of the service carriers often interrupt or interfere with that of commercial radios. Before, cell phone service was costly and unreliable due to the limited channels available.

Because of the increasing demand for cellular phones all over the globe, new service carriers were approved by the FCC or Federal Communications Commission in the mid nineties. Way back in 2001, there are already over 120 million subscribers of wireless phones in the US and who knows how much it has increased over the past seven years. The regulators and forecasters didn’t anticipate for such huge growth since the service cost was quite high.

The cellular phone is truly an invention that has achieved great success commercially. Cell phone users believe that productivity is increased if you have at least one unit and not only that, it can also enhance safety. Today, almost every individual has a cell phone. Repair technicians, delivery drivers, lawyers, doctors, and many other professionals have adopted the use of cell phones in their daily lives. The rates of the service carriers have dropped and because of this, more and more people can now afford a cellular phone.

Most of the cell phone subscribers reason out that the units are very important due to personal security reasons, for convenience, and for road safety. No one really knows when he or she is going to be stranded in a foreign place; but with a cell phone, they can easily ask for help.

That’s all about the cell phone history. People owe Illinois Bell for the creation of the cell phone. Great improvements were made since the 1970’s and the advanced technology of today’s times has even created high tech cell phones that include many other features aside from calling. Now, you can send text messages, videos, pictures, and many others. You can even take pictures now with the use of your cell phone because it already has a built in camera. The cell phone units today are also reasonably priced and so even ordinary individuals can purchase them.

You can log on to the internet and check out the different cell phone models sold in the market today. You can compare their features, prices, and appearance. When purchasing a cell phone, you have to choose one that will work for you. You have to choose the cell phone features you like, the size of the mobile phone, etc.

The history of cell phones can show people how the developments occurred. The cell phones have gone a long way ever since it was created. Now, more and more individuals are benefiting from the use of mobile phones. How about you, do you have a cell phone?

What Is The Plasma In Plasma TVs?

plasma-tv
As the electronics industry has moved from CRT (cathode ray technology) televisions to the new plasma technology, we have all watched as our television pictures became clearer and crisper. Even though plasma technology isn’t all that new, the application of it in our televisions sets is. We all understand how a plain picture tube works in a television set.

What exactly is this plasma stuff?

Plasma is formed when two gases, neon and xenon, are electrified and the resulting phosphors (a substance that can emit light after being radiated in some way) begin to glow. To get a little more scientific, the atoms that make up the neon and xenon release their negative electrons to float about and leave ionized positive atoms. When you have enough of theses ionized atoms, you get plasma.

You don’t need to be a science teacher to understand how all of it works, but plasma is showing up in more than just our television sets.

It was used in computer displays in the 1960’s and is used today in waste treatment, welding and drilling, propulsion, lasers, and instrument sterilization in medical offices and hospitals. The average person, though, will recognize the technology in their television sets.

As plasma televisions continue to advance, you can guarantee the use of it in other applications will continue
as well. Before long, plasma technology may become one of the most widely used applications around the world for numerous things. And it will still make ‘Star Trek’ look really good on your television.
