In 1998, Apple introduced an all-in-one desktop computer that runs on Mac operating system called iMac. The ‘I’ in the name indicates internet. Several modifications were made since its release in shape, components and type of monitors. Apples marketing strategies and the unique features of iMac resulted in a huge success of the product. These can be seen in movies, TV shows and other commercials because of its sleek design and great looks. It is comparatively expensive and getting a free iMac is really a big deal but it might be easier than getting a free Macbook.

Apart from the normal edition, a specific model for students was desgined by the company which is meant for students who belong to k-12 and higher institutions. Fortunately, several upgrades were made which include support for 4 GB ram. Core2duo processor is another important upgrade apart from increase in number of USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet card and  wi-fi networking. For gamers, support for Nvidia graphics cards with 512 MB video memory was provided. Interestingly, the user can choose in between various screen sizes of the monitor which range from 15 inch to 24 inch. There are some reviews which state that iMac is always shipped with less memory than standard. Another drawback is apple users cannot easily upgrade the system to higher versions unlike other models. For example, the graphic cards are burnt on the motherboard in Apple systems and cannot be upgraded.  Despite these features, it is a must to have to those who are looking for unique desktop systems and those who love the design and feel of apple products.
